The Unified CPN (Maoist), the largest single party in the Nepalese Constituent Assembly, has intensified plans to unite with smaller leftist parties.
As part of the effort, the party is in touch with leaders who had left the CPN (ML) some months ago.
Maoist leaders Mohan Vaidya, Dinanath Sharma and Barsa Man Pun responsibile for the unification held discussions with the CPN -ML Revolutionary (MLR) leaders at party headquarters in Buddhanagar two days ago. It was decided to formally declare unification with the MLR on June 9.
A four-member task force was formed to prepare for the unification. It comprises Sharma, Pun, MLR leaders Keshab Raj Nepal and Padam Bhandari.
Ram Acharya, Dinesh Panthi were among more than a dozen central members had left CP Mainali-led ML and formed the revolutionary party.
The Unified CPN (Maoist) came into being in January on the unification of the CPN (Maoist) and CPN (Ekata Kendra Masal).
